What is WABI SABI?
WABI SABI is the art of imperfection. It celebrates the beauty in irregularity and asymmetry, qualities inherent in natural processes like the creativity behind handmade works of art. This is in contrast to the precise "perfectness" of machine made products. While undeniably useful and having a beauty of their own, machine manufactured products lack the richness and charm of something made by hand from the body & soul of an artist that brings her unique perspective to anything she creates.

What is WABI SABI Design?

Here at CHAKRA NATION, our WABI SABI Design reflects the CHAKRA System in that two opposing concepts are present when the hoop and the CHAKRA system are each viewed holistically. The CHAKRA System embodies the dense form of our physical world (Chakra 1) and the completely formless state of pure consciousness (Chakra 7). Similarly, the pattern our decorative tapes make as they spiral around the hoop tubing are at once symmetrical and asymmetrical. From a bit of a distance, symmetry can easily be seen in the patterned striping of our tapes. But if you get up close and look carefully, there will be very slight variations in the distance between the different tapes used. These variations, however slight, inform your (sub)consciousness that your hoop was crafted by a person and not a machine. Symmetry and asymmetry. Form and formlessness. Both are true at the same time.

Our CHAKRA NATION Hoop crafters may occasionally add an unexpected design element like an extra band of color in various places or using two different shades of sparkle tape for a variation in hue. These techniques add to the asymmetry/symmetry beauty of our hand crafted hoops.

Every hoop we make is a quantum combination of the hoop maker, the decorative tapes she is inspired by that day and the intention you send with your hoop order. The result is a unique, lovingly crafted hoop infused with energy to facilitate your joyful hooping experience and your transformational path. So, you pick the CHAKRA color, we'll pick the tape.

Because it allows our hoop crafters to be more freely creative and it adds an element of surprise when receiving your hoop. Plus it's interesting and life is more fun when it's interesting.

what is a WABI SABI life?
A WABI SABI life is one that accepts and even celebrates those elements in our lives that we might consider to be imperfect. Imperfections can add character and interest but most importantly, they can teach us. If we are observing our life with curiosity, those imperfections illuminate places we can make adjustments for the purpose of increasing our overall happiness and sense well being.

Since imperfection is a natural part of life, we can accept its presence and do good things anyway. You don't have to be good all of the time to choose goodness some of the time. You don't have to always know exactly what to say in every situation to say nice things a lot of the time. Start where you are...in perfect imperfection.
